Good news for Bennekerry National School

Green Party T.D. for Carlow/Kilkenny, Mary White, has welcomed the news that the Department of Education has approved the project for a new school for Bennekerry National School going to tender.
Commenting on the announcement from the Minister for Education this afternoon, which forms part of the €579 million school building programme for 2010, the Green Party Deputy Leader said: “I am delighted with the announcement that Bennekerry National School has been now been given approval to put its project for a new school building to tender. After a long period of lobbying and meeting with parents and staff, this is great news for everybody concerned with the school. Those of us who know the school will know how necessary this building work is, and will ensure comfortable new accommodation for pupils and staff.”
Deputy White added: “I know from having visited the school on many occasions, and having been at its Green Flag raising ceremony what a wonderful school it is. I’d like to congratulate the fund-raising committee, the parents’ association and all involved in highlighting the need for this new development. I’d like to wish the school well for the future.”
