White congratulates workers at Kilkenny train station for ‘Best station in Leinster’ award

Kilkenny, 26 February 2010

Green Party T.D. for Carlow/Kilkenny, Mary White, has paid tribute to staff at Kilkenny’s train station after the station won the ‘Best Leinster station’ award at yesterday’s Irish Rail Best Station Awards.

Commenting on the award the Green Party Deputy Leader said: “Congratulations to all staff at the station on winning this award. It is clear from this public endorsement (2,000 people voted in the competition) that the station and its staff are a tribute to Kilkenny. The award is based on judgment of customer information, the staff and the station, and I too can testify to the high quality on offer in the city’s station.”

The Green Party Deputy Leader added: “The Dublin-Waterford service, which encompasses Kilkenny, has improved a lot in recent years and I have worked with Irish Rail to see customers’ concerns and requests addressed. Punctuality, bike capacity and customer service has improved, and I will continue working with them to resolve issues in the future.”
